Funding for Disability Equipment |

Individuals
with Disabilities fund the purchase of
mobility
scooters,
vehicles, vehicle modifications and other mobility equipment
that will provide outdoor mobility. It also provides grants
to people with communication-related disabilities for the
purchase of equipment to help communication. |

For
advice on how to make your home safer and easier to live in |
 |
|
This could
include advice on placement of handrails in bathroom areas
or help with strategies on how to manage the things you need
or like to do.
Ask
your doctor to send a referral to the local District Health
Board for an Occupational Therapy assessment. |

There are a
number of Disability organizations across the country; some
offer displays of equipment or they can point you to local
suppliers.

|
|
If your
equipment breaks down, you should go back to the people who
supplied it. The most likely options are: |

Northland
o
Enable
0800 17 1981 for people living in the rest of New Zealand
o
Your
local District Health Board
Equipment owned by either the Ministry of Health or ACC can
be repaired at no cost though Accessable or Enable.
Privately owned equipment can also be repaired, but will
incur a charge to the owner for repair costs. |
